The Daring Derek amazing birthday magic show is a hilarious blend of fast paced comedy magic that is suitable for (***almost) all ages.

Slap stick humor mixed with amazing impossible magic will have the children (and adults) rolling with infectious laughter!

The birthday celebrant is the focus of every show! They will have a blast being the center of attention by magically making a real live rabbit appear out of thin air at the very end of the show!

The trained rabbit sits in a top-hat so that the children can handle and pass around easily. Children LOVE this part!

Make sure you're camera batteries are charged!

After the magic show, balloon animals & sculptures can be made for all the children.

My balloon sculptures have been called a "class act on their own!" - Wait till you see the excitement in the childrens eyes as they each receive a balloon to take home with them!

Additional helpful details about Hosting a Daring Derek Magic Show.

For 'in-home' magic shows, Daring Derek (*trys to) arrive 15 minutes in advance for set up and orientation. (*although not ever intended, traffic sometimes has its limitations. If for any reason he's running a pinch off schedule, he will contact you on route.

(Out of 200 shows last year, he was only late 29 times!...Pretty good right? KIDDING-- 2 times! Only two! One percent! ---Traffic issue woes-traffic jams, accidents etc.. Enough time is always given---sometimes traffic messes it all up.! He loves his job and strives to be punctual for his awaiting audience!)

Ta Da! Rabbits 101:

Please have any cats or dogs or any other rabbit eating animals penned as he will have his rabbit friend(s) with him. (They thank you!)

His magic cases have had rabbits in them for years! They smell wonderful to dogs and cats.. Even if your dog or cat has never bothered before; are so old, lazy and uninterested; trust me they will be in full investigation mode. Please please pleaaase..have them in another room away from the party. Some children don't know how to interact safely with animals either; your animal family members will be more comfortable sleeping in another room

Concession Stand!

It's best if no snacks, drinks or toys be in the hands of the little ones while the show is going on. Derek guarantees that there will be spills all over the place! The magic show you are booking is hilariously funny & highly interactive, dotted with moments of suspense and surprise. Trust me, you dont want food and drinks in the hands of the little ones.

Find Your Seats!

Please have the children sit on the floor, opposed to chairs and furniture. This prevents falling, rocking, leaning, pinched fingers, chairs breaking, dragging, saving seats, et cetera et cetera. Their attention span is far greater while sitting on the floor.

Derek requests that an adult other than himself be present throughout the whole show. Most people want to be around for the show anyway. Not only will you have a great time watching the children's reactions and taking pictures, you'll also find that you enjoy a lot of the magic.

For some children, this will be their first time witnessing live entertainment---It's a really great idea to encourage a few adults to engage with the children (as children) to help them with positive examples of being a great audience! Clapping, booing, hissing, ooooing, ahhhing, honking, whistling, yelling and of course laughing are all encouraged!

Toddlers should be encouraged to remain seated, and not be up walking around because they could potentially and quite easily draw attention away from the show and you'll for sure miss something; or perhaps the toddeler may inadvertently become a part of the show by knocking something over---as toddlers do! So for their safety; Derek's safety; (Derek's insurance); please attend to children under the age of 3 during Derek's visit.

Inside Out?

If your party is being held outdoors, it's fairly important for the area to be shaded and on level ground. On hot hot days --having the children sit in the blazing sun for that long wouldn't be fair Wind is also an enemy of magic shows. If its too windy props blow around and can cause hazard.

If performance(s) is/are outdoors and shelter is not provided, props and sound equipment could be damaged by rain. Wet surfaces increase the slipping risk of audience volunteers. Assessment of risk , and decision whether performances can continue will be reasonably judged.

Remuneration will not be affected by show cancellations due to weather.

How Much Space does this magic show need anyway?

The performance area should be at least NINE feet across and FOUR feet deep. The audience should be no less than a couple of feet away from the performance area. The area that is needed to perform the magic show should be as clear and open as possible. Please no hanging decorations above the performance area (streamers, balloons etc.).

(He's able to work with almost any area that you can provide.)

He arrive's with everything that he needs, including his own table.

Sometimes a power outlet is required for a sound system (when applicable).

LIGHTSCAMERA---ACTION !

You're encouraged to take photographs of the magic show- all that's asked is that you share them with Derek. That's the deal. If you would like to take photographs, you have to pinky-swear-promise that you will send digital copies via email in the coming days after your booking.

If you would like to video tape the performance, in piece or whole; the deal is the same. You must pinky-swear-promise to send a dvd copy of what you were able to capture. Nuff said.

Travel Fees

TRAVEL:

Daring Derek the Comedy Magician travels anywhere the wind blows! (well almost anywhere!)

Additional fee is typically $25.00 for areas just outside the "red" area.

Obviously the further away from the "red" area, the more you should plan to invest.

If you're unsure of wheather or not a travel fee applies; call or email to discuss your location.
